GIVING LAVENDER AROMATHERAPY & MUROTTAL AR-RAHMAN TO OVERCOME DISTURBED SLEEP PATTERNS IN ELDERLY PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC RENAL FAILURE
Abstract
Chronic Kidney Failure (CKD) is an irreversible kidney disorder with abnormalities in kidney structure and function, where the body can no longer maintain metabolism and fluid and electrolyte balance, causing uremia. Elderly people who experience chronic kidney failure can experience deterioration in both physical and psychological factors. One of the consequences of physical and psychological deterioration in elderly chronic renal failure is decreased sleep quality. This study aims to provide lavender aromatherapy & murottal ar-rahman to overcome sleep pattern disorders in elderly patients with chronic renal failure. The method used in this study is descriptive research with a case study method approach that explores Nursing Care in elderly patients with chronic renal failure with disturbed sleep patterns. The elderly sleep quality measurement tool uses the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire. The results of this study obtained an FSS score of 49 which indicates that CKD patients suffer from fatigue or significant fatigue. After being given lavender aromatherapy and murottal ar rahman for 7 days for 30 minutes, the quality of sleep of elderly chronic renal failure has improved sleep quality from the results of PSQI score 17 (Severe Sleep Difficulty) at the beginning of the assessment, increasing to a PSIK score of 7 (Mild Sleep Difficulty) on the 7th day of intervention. The provision of lavender aromatherapy and ar rahman murottal interventions can improve the level of sleep quality in elderly patients with chronic renal failure. The lavender aromatherapy and ar rahman murottal interventions are very easy to implement by nurses.
